The Hawaii Building Industry Foundation is dedicated to strengthening Hawaii’s building industry by investing in the future workforce. Through scholarships, we provide deserving and economically disadvantaged students with the opportunity to pursue careers in construction and related fields. Our mission is to cultivate a skilled, sustainable workforce and promote excellence and lifelong learning within the industry.

On April 14, 2026, the Foundation celebrated its inaugural class of scholarship recipients at a special luncheon, where the students spoke about their goals and what inspired them to pursue careers in the building and construction industry. For the 2026–2027 academic year, scholarships were awarded through the program "Foundations for Tomorrow: Building Dreams," which received 53 applications and selected 13 outstanding students. Recipients are pursuing degrees and certificates across a range of disciplines at UH Mānoa School of Architecture, Leeward Community College, Honolulu Community College, and Maui College, with fields of study including engineering, welding, architecture, carpentry, HVAC, civil engineering, and electrical engineering. By awarding these scholarships, the Foundation is investing in students poised to succeed in their fields, contribute to the industry, and build meaningful, rewarding careers.

At the end of my last day of classes, I always ask what they liked most. Someone will always say, "we just needed someone to believe in us."
